This tutorial will demonstrate how to upload an XML file containing Solar Abundances.
XML Format
In order to upload your Solar Abundances, the XML file must be in the correct format. To ensure your XML file is formatted correctly, we recommend you download the distribution for this release available in the downloads page, and modify the solar_abundances_distribution.xml file located in the data_pub directory.
More advanced users may like to see the XSD schema provided in the downloadable distribution. The schemas, solar_abundance_distribution.xsd and solar_abundance_distribution_types.xsd are in the xsd_pub directory of the distribution.
Important notes:
- z, a, and abundance are not optional tags
- The nucleosynthesis and process tags are optional
- An Abundance XML file must contain an entry of Silicon (Z=14)
Upload Panel
Once you have a file of the correct format, launch the Solar Abundances Tool. The first panel that is displayed is the 'Upload Table'. Click 'Launch Upload Tool'.
This will open the upload dialog box. Click 'Browse' to open up your computer's file system and locate the XML you would like to upload. For this tutorial, the uploaded file is 'c:\my_abundances.xml'
If your uploaded file is in the correct format you will return to the Solar Abundances tool and see a screen similar to the one below.
You've successfully uploaded your values for the solar abundances. Descriptions of how to use all of the other panels can be found in the Beginner Tutorial.
