The following tutorials will help you learn how to use the tool:
Beginner. This tutorial shows the steps you carry out to solve the Lane-Emden equation and to apply your result to the case of a hydrostatic sphere whose mass and central density are that of the Sun.
n = 0. This tutorial further illustrates the use of the Polytrope Tool through a calculation of the uniform density star (the n = 0 polytrope). This case is one of three (n = 0, 1 and 5) that has an analytic solution. This tutorial assumes some familiarity with the use of the tool; therefore, it should be used after the Beginner tutorial above.
Chandrasekhar Limit. This tutorial describes how you can use the Polytrope tool to determine the maximum mass that a white dwarf star may have. This limiting mass is famous and is known as the Chandrasekhar Limit. This tutorial assumes some familiarity with the use of the tool; therefore, it should be used after the Beginner tutorial above.
